What are you reading for?

Permission to pick up a book that has absolutely nothing to do with being better.

Sometimes a book is a door, sometimes it is company, and sometimes it is just a very good way to spend a rainy afternoon. Your reading list does not have to explain your ambitions.

Ask what you are in the mood for before asking what you should read. A strange voice? A place you have never visited? A beautifully complicated friendship? That is a perfectly good brief.

Leave room for the book you would never put on a productivity list. It may give you a sentence, an image, or a question that stays with you much longer than a takeaway.
